The Thousand Camel Festival brings together camel-herding families from across the South Gobi to celebrate the two-humped Bactrian camel and the traditions that have sustained nomadic life in this extreme environment for generations.

Against a dramatic winter desert backdrop, witness colorful camel parades, traditional costumes, camel racing, camel polo, herding competitions and cultural performances while meeting the people who continue Mongolia’s ancient camel-herding traditions.

But this journey goes far beyond the festival.

Travel across the vast winter landscapes of the Gobi to the extraordinary cliffs of Tsagaan Suvarga, experience the immense Khongor Sand Dunes in their quiet winter setting, spend time with a local camel-herding family and explore the legendary red sandstone formations of Bayanzag, known worldwide as the Flaming Cliffs.
