Imagine standing among the dramatic, snow-covered peaks of Mongolia's Altai Mountains, patiently watching the rugged slopes where one of the world's rarest and most elusive big cats roams.
Our Mongolia Snow Leopard Photography Expedition offers passionate wildlife photographers and nature enthusiasts an extraordinary opportunity to observe and photograph wild snow leopards in their natural mountain habitat.
Unlike conventional sightseeing tours, this specialist expedition is designed around wildlife photography, with dedicated early-morning and evening observation sessions and the support of experienced local wildlife researchers and tracking guides.
A Dedicated Snow Leopard Photography Experience
The heart of this journey is an intensive wildlife observation program in the remote mountains of Western Mongolia.
Accompanied by two knowledgeable local wildlife trackers, you will explore suitable observation areas, scan rocky ridgelines and learn to identify signs of snow leopard activity.
With up to six days dedicated to mountain wildlife observation, the expedition allows time for patient photography rather than rushed sightseeing.
Our approach prioritizes responsible wildlife encounters, natural behavior and photography from respectful observation distances.
In addition to snow leopards, the mountains offer potential photographic opportunities featuring Siberian ibex, birds of prey and spectacular alpine landscapes.
Snow leopard sightings and photographic opportunities cannot be guaranteed, as these magnificent animals remain completely wild.
Beyond Wildlife – The Living Traditions of Western Mongolia
This expedition also introduces you to the fascinating culture and hospitality of Mongolia's Kazakh communities.
Visit a traditional Kazakh eagle-hunter family, discover the centuries-old relationship between hunters and their golden eagles, and enjoy opportunities for authentic cultural photography.
Experience nomadic family life, traditional dairy production, felt-making and embroidery while learning about the heritage of Western Mongolia.
